The ASEAN Chess Academy is pleased to announce the 1st Club INTCHESS-National Schools Grand Prix 2007 which is expected to be an important forum for the development of young talent. The 1st Club INTCHESS-National Schools Grand Prix will be in 3 categories:
- U-12,
- U-16, and
- Challengers (unrated players and those under FIDE 2000),
MSSKL has confirmed 4 legs will be held at Pusat Kecemerlangan Sukan Cochrane, and will be a 6 round 30 minutes rapid (the final will be a 7 round 60 minute rapid over two days) as follows:
MSSKL 1st leg: 3 February 2007
MSSKL 2nd leg: 24 March 2007
MSSKL3rd leg: 28 April 2007
MSSKL 4th leg: 26 May 2007
FINAL: 28-29 July 2007
The prizes for each leg will be trophies, medals and certificates (top 3 and also special categories), with the overall winners (accumulated scores over all legs played) being entitled to scholarships at the ASEAN Chess Academy .
The top 10 finishers in each category will also be given direct entry to the final where prizes will include sponsored participation at a FIDE Rating event. With the 1st Club INTCHESS-National Schools Grand Prix 2007, young players will have a chance to play regularly against their peers, and our young talent will be able to showcase their abilities while being rewarded with training as well as with opportunities to develop further. Recommended entry fees for each leg would be RM 10 for U-12, RM 15 for U-16 and RM 20 for Challengers.
